How much does ERP cost for a small machine shop?
Of the shop systems small machine shops look at, only a few publish a price. MRPeasy runs $49 to $149 per user per month, Odoo about €20 to €45 per user per month plus implementation, Tehdo $500 a month flat for the whole shop with setup included. JobBOSS², ProShop, Fulcrum and Global Shop quote after a sales call, and each prices differently: by users, by your revenue, or by concurrent users plus an upfront cost. Here's what each one says, with sources, and what a 12-person shop would pay where the math is possible.

Quote-only
| Software | What the vendor says about price | Setup time | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| JobBOSS² (ECI) | "Our pricing is tailored to the specific scale of your manufacturing operations and the depth of functionality required." | "Our implementation takes around 3-6 months to complete." | pricing, product page |
| ProShop | "Pricing based on Users", with a standard or government option | Not published | proshoperp.com/pricing |
| Fulcrum | "We don't charge per user"; pricing is "based on factors like the gross revenue of your shop" and the integrations you need | Not published; done with Fulcrum's own launch team | fulcrumpro.com |
| Global Shop Solutions | "a concurrent user model, which is the number of employees in the system at once. Upfront + ongoing quarterly cost." | Not published | globalshopsolutions.com/pricing |
We left out third-party price estimates for the quote-only systems: they disagree with each other and we couldn't check them against the vendors.
Worked example: a 12-person job shop
Say 12 people need to see or update jobs: owner, office, a programmer, a quality person and eight on the floor. Monthly software cost before any implementation:
| Software | Math | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| MRPeasy Professional | 10 × $69 + $79 for users 11 to 20 | $769 |
| MRPeasy Starter | 10 × $49 + $79 | $569 |
| Odoo Standard, monthly billing | 12 × €24.90 first year, 12 × €31.10 after | €299, then €373 |
| Tehdo | Flat | $500 |
Per-user pricing pushes shops to give logins only to the office, and then the floor updates nothing. Whatever you pick, price it with everyone who touches a job.
The costs that aren't on the price page
- Implementation. Months of someone's time on the longer rollouts. Odoo lists implementation as not included in its plans.
- Double entry. Every week you run the old system and the new one side by side costs the office hours.
- Import. Ask who loads your open orders, customers and routes, and whether it's in the price. With Tehdo it is.
- Seats you'll add later. A new hire on a per-user plan is a price increase.
- Getting out. Ask how you export your data if you leave. Tehdo exports everything to Excel and has no contract.
Questions
Why don't JobBOSS², ProShop and Fulcrum publish prices?
Each one says pricing depends on your shop: ECI tailors JobBOSS² to 'the specific scale of your manufacturing operations', ProShop prices by users with a standard or government option, and Fulcrum prices by your gross revenue and integrations. Ask each for a written quote for your whole shop, including implementation.
What costs besides the subscription should I budget for?
Implementation and data import, training time, double entry while you run two systems, hosting for some on-premise options, and add-ons such as accounting or quality modules. Ask who does the import of your open orders and how long it takes.
